I have replaced my iMac G5 with a 17 inch MacBook Pro for ease of carriage between Guildford, Berkshire, Dorset and Cornwall. Transferring the contents of the old computer to the new one was as simple as it could be and 'airport' recognised the Netgear routers at three of the locations without even asking a question. Network and internet access were seamless. At two locations with different routers I was asked to confirm the network was the one to which I wished to connect.
For the first 2 weeks I found the clever track pad too difficult. Now that I have changed most of its settings to suit my own preferences, I use it all the time and have abandoned the mouse.
All in all, a fabulous machine.

There is now a thread on the IEE (IET) consultant's chat line regarding the best weblog host. I find it hard to believe that anything can beat Blogger; and it's free !
Every week I am amazed at the number of strangers who contact me by e-mail and in pubs / jazz clubs, saying 'saw your blog' or words to that effect. As a result I have put people in touch with one another after as long as 60 years. Would this have happened if I had not opted for the Google-Blogger combination ? Might be so but might not, so why risk it.

Following the purchase of TurboCAD I was obliged to upgrade my MacOS to 10.4.6 'Tiger' since when I have upgraded to 10.4.8. Apart from the cost of the OS, I have now been obliged to upgrade Norton AntiVirus, which does now work. Skype continues to malfunction despite upgrading yet again. At least turboCAD is now working.
The moral is: do not buy software that requires OS upgrade unless you have much time and money available.

Following the purchase of TurboCAD I was obliged to upgrade my OS to 10.4.6 'Tiger'. I wish I had never started this exercise. The installation threw away the contents of my address book and my back-up was not that recent. It is bad enough re-entering the newer contacts but, more seriously, I could accidentally use an out-of-date address. TurboCAD now throws up an error message and the help line does not answer. Why do software suppliers insist in fostering hate from their customers ? Do they not understand our problems or just not care ?

I have just bought TurboCAD V2.0 for my iMac G5 at a specially reduced price for November. It was disappointing to say the least to find that I have to upgrade my OS from 10.3.9 to 10.4 to make it work. Black mark to TurboCAD.
