Magna Jazz Band with Ken Reece and Goff Dubber

This evening we went to the Berrylands Hotel in Surbiton to see and hear Brian White's Magna Jazz Band. Special guests were Ken Reece (cornet) and Goff Dubber (soprano sax, clarinet and vocals). Goff is pictured flanked by Brian White (clarinet) and Alan Dandy (keyboard). Our favourite numbers were:
1. Blue Turning Grey, composed by Fats Waller and performed by him in a very lively version on this link.
2. Perdido Street Stomp, played on this link by Sidney Bechet, with whom the number is usually associated (did he write it ?).
3. Really The Blues, composed by Sidney Bechet and played by him on this link.
4. Ken and Goff duetting on Kansas City Man Blues, played on this link by Clarence Johnson.
Alan Dandy's solo feature, combining two numbers:
5. Good Morning Heartache, written by Irene Higgenbotham, Ervin Drake, and Dan Fisher. It was originally recorded by Billie Holiday in 1946 but is sung on this link by Natalie Cole.
6. Don't Explain, written by Billie Holiday and Arthur Herzog Jr. This link is to a Billie Holiday recording.

I mentioned to Brian White that the seat to my left is always empty. He responded with "I am not surprised".
