This evening we went to the George & Dragon in Thames Ditton to see Pete Cook (baritone sax, alto sax, pictured), Alan Dandy (keyboard), Mick Durelle (string bass) and Don Cook (drums). Pete is a fine player on both instruments.
The numbers we enjoyed most were:
Alan's solo feature on his new Roland FP-4 Temptation Rag, composed by Henry Lodge in 1909;
Doxy by Sonny Rollins;
Joyspring by Clifford Brown.
Guests were Kim Martine, singing 'I'm Beginning to See The Light' and 'It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing;
Michael J Roberts, singing 'But Not For Me' and 'My Lady With The Laughing Face';
John Lang (trombone), playing 'Just You, Just Me' and 'St Thomas'.
Sitting next to Selina was Peter Winn, more usually to be found at The Berrylands.
