Colin Lewry's 80th birthday at the Europa

This evening we went to Colin Lewry's 80th birthday celebration at The Europa in East Molesey with the Urban Gin House Band. The line-up comprised Alan Brock (trumpet, vocals), Dave Allison (baritone sax, clarinet, vocals), Zane Cronje (keyboard, pictured), Mike Bennett (bass) and Mike Knipe (drums). Our favourite numbers were:
I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me, composed by Jimmy McHugh with lyrics by Clarence Gaskill;
I Want a Little Girl, composed by Murray Mencher with lyrics by Billy Moll;
Ain't Misbehavin' composed by Fats Waller and Harry Brooks with lyrics by Andy Razaf.
Birthday boy Colin Lewry (pictured) played keyboard in both the breaks, the first one accompanied by Aileen May on bass and the second one accompanied by Peter Clancy on bass and David Clancy on drums with Francis Gryspeerdt (Tenor & Alto Sax) joining them for one number.
Guests between the breaks were:
Peter, Andrew and David Clancy (trombone, keyboard and drums respectively) with Aileen on bass for 'Big Butter and Egg Man' and 'Georgia On My Mind';
Francis Gryspeerdt (tenor sax) for 'Honeysuckle Rose' and 'Disorder at the Border';
Roy Stokes and Peter Tallent (trombones) for 'China Boy' and 'Making Whoopee'.
After the second break, Ray Lindsay (tenor sax) joined the band for 'Yardbird Suite' and 'S'wonderful'.
