Brian White and his Magna jazz band at the Berrylands

This evening we went to the Berrylands Hotel in Surbiton (pictured), to see The Magna jazz band with the standard line-up.
Favourite numbers were as follows:
Isle Of Capri written in 1934 by Wilhelm Grosz (aka Hugh Williams), with lyrics by Jimmy Kennedy. Estelle quoted Sammy Cahn's alternative first line 'Twas on a pile of debris that I found her' so I spent the next hour writing bawdy lyrics for the rest of the four verses. I may not be as good as Jimmy Kennedy but I bet I am faster.
I'm Confessing That I Love You composed by Doc Daugherty, Al J. Neiberg, and Ellis Reynolds and published in 1930.
Pete Towndrow's cornet feature 'The Bugler's Lament', about which I know nothing except that we like it very much.
Alan Dandy's feature Indian Summer composed by Victor Herbert and made famous by Sidney Bechet.
For the first and probably last time ever I was able to guess the title of a number from the names of the composers. It was announced as having been written by Benton Overstreet with lyrics by Billy Higgins to which I responded There'll Be Some Changes Made. I followed up with the comment that I like the Dutch Swing College Version from the 1950s with a long slow introduction. Brian White believes they stole it from Peanuts Hucko.
