Brian White Magna Jazz Band at the Berrylands

This evening we went to the Berrylands Hotel in Surbiton, to see The Magna jazz band with the standard line-up. The picture of the full band is from the archive; Selina's hair is not so short at present. Despite a poor attendance due to bad weather it was a particularly great evening of jazz, with every number very enjoyable. We will pick out as exceptional:
'When You and I Were Young Maggie' by James Butterfield, lyrics by Maggie Clark's husband for a few months, George Washington Johnson;
'That Lonesome Road' the origin of which is unknown to me;
Brian's own lovely composition 'Nana Tim';
Alan Dandy's feature 'Softly as in a Morning Sunrise' by Sigmund Romberg, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II;
and my request 'Close Your Eyes', the B-side of Humphrey Lyttleton's 'Bad Penny Blues' (is this the Close Your Eyes composed in 1933 by Bernice Petkere ?).
I find it hard nagging to get Brian to play my requests; his unacceptable excuse this time was that he does not like the number. Has he bad taste or what ?
