Jazz at the Preston Cross Hotel

We tried the Preston Cross Hotel jazz gig for the first time yesterday afternoon. The band was 'Vintage Jazz', very good in a traditional New Orleans style. I was particularly impressed with the trombonist, who also sang like a black guy.

Comparisons are with the Epsom Playhouse jazz club that we have been attending every other Tuesday (but closed throughout August).

Advantages of Preston Cross:

Cheaper entrance fee
No need to book
Free parking
Large hall with tables for everyone, including tablecloths.
Reasonably comfortable chairs
Full Sunday lunch available if you want it
Good Beer; Gales
Elderly couples dancing as if they were young again.

Advantages of Epsom jazz club:

More varied bands, including some really good ones, John Softley's band being the best so far.
